The book Don’t You Know There’s A War On by AVI tells about 'swiss-cheese letter'. That means there are words that get cut off because if a Nazi gets it then they could know where they were going to get home. If you cut the words that tells where you are going (or leaving) then, if a Nazi gets it they will not get good information. The thing that changed mom in pops letter was that he was going to be home and they would see him again. He is coming home. Who wouldn't want to be happy? Howie is worried about his pops safety because their is u boats that might sink his ship. He is worried because u boats have the power to destroy his dads ship.
