  1. I think Howie doesn’t tell Miss. Gossim what he knows is about to happen to her because he’s too scared and he doesn’t want his teacher to be worried about it and be unhappy and tell her class about it.For example ‘’she was trying to smile and use her bright voice . It didn't work.’’ If Lomister does fire her this will be hard for Howie because he thinks she’s a good teacher and really nice and funny. Miss.Gossim is important to Howie so he was following Miss. Gossim to stop her and help her.

    1. I agree with Cole because he doesn’t want her to know that he knows she is getting fired because she might be sad. Howie loves Miss Gossim, and doesn’t want her to be sad.

  2. Why he wouldn’t tell Mrs. Gossim she was being fired is because it would lower her spirits. It would lower her spirits because she would be sad. I would be sad to because she's a nice character. When I had to tell somebody bad news I feel awful because of their situation and what they might be thinking about and how it might affect them. Why this would be hard for Howie to tell her bad news is because he likes her. He likes her because she's full of smiles and smells good. She's generous. She's generous because she let Howie take the test again even though he failed the math test .

    1. Do you think that Howie is being helpful to Miss Gossim? Is there something else he can do about her being fired?

  3. Howie doesn't tell Miss Gossim that she is going to get fired because he cares about his teacher. Howie also cares about her as a person. Not only is she a teacher that cares about her students, he also believes she is a good person and that she shouldn't be fired for no reason. On page 42, Howie notices that Miss Gossim doesn't look happy when she is called down to the principal's office. He sees that her face changes when Mrs. Partridge is explaining that Dr. Lomister want's to speak with her immediately. Since Howie cares so much about Miss Gossim, it will be hard on him to have his teacher fired. She was nice to him when he came into class full of coal, and when he needs to study more for a math test. Howie also wants to be a helpful student and save his teacher.

  4. Why I think that Howie doesn’t tell Mrs. Gossim what he knows is about to happen to her is because It’s so bad so he can’t get it out. In the story it says that Howie can’t get it out. This shows that it is to hard to say. Also he might not want to say it because he doesn’t want his teacher to leave so he’s not going to bring up the topic. He doesn’t want her to leave because she is Howie’s favorite teacher because she is so kind, thoughtful nice, and in Howie’s words pretty. In conclusion Howie feels sad for his teacher so he won’t say what will happen to her because it would just create more sadness.

  5. I think Howie doesn't tell Miss Gossim what he knows what’s about to happen to her because he didn’t want to make her sad. If he told her(which he did) she would probably get sad because someone knows she is going to get fired. If Lomister fires Miss Gossim, it would make an impact on Howie because he would have to put up with a different teacher that might be mean. He loves Miss Gossim. He will help her.

  6. Why I think Howie doesn't tell he what he knows is she might just quit so she won't get fired then she would be gone for sure. She also might tell Howie’s mom so he would get in trouble for going into someone else's house. If Mrs.Gossim gets fired Howie would have to go to a different teachers class that might be mean. For example when Howie failed his math test she gave him another chance so he could see the movie.

  7. Why I think Howie does not tell Miss Gossim that she is going to get fired, is because he does not want her to get mad at him. Either that or he was too overwhelmed that it’s happening he just can't get it out. If he did say she was going to get fired, what would she do? If she asked him, “How do you know this, Howie?” then he would have to tell her he was at a house and he overheard that Dr. Lomister talking. He said he was going to fire her because she was “too nice” and “not strict enough.” So that is why I think Howie did not tell Miss Gossim she was going to get fired. And if Lomister does frie her it will be hard for howie because, Howie’s favorite teacher is Miss, Gossim and if she gets fired it alaso will eb hard for Howie because his favorite teacher is going to be fired and if or when she does fired will Howie ever see her again?

  8. Why I think Howie waited so long to reveal to Mrs.Gossim what he knew is he didn’t want the class to know and he was to nervous to tell her.Another reason he waited is it was hard to know she was getting fired and he wanted to know more.If Lomister does fire Mrs. Gossim it will be hard on Howie because Mrs. Gossim is Howies favorite teacher.

  9. Aaron I agree with you I think that Ms. Gossim would be sad. The reason I agree with you is because it would be sad to know that one of your favorite students knew you were getting fired and would say a sad good bye.

  10. One reason I think Howie doesn't tell Mrs. Gossim about her predicament is because he would have to explain breaking into the brownstone and eavesdropping on Dr Lomister's conversation. That would be a tough explanation.

  11. It would be hard for Howie if Dr Lomister fires Miss Gossim because she is the light in his gloomy world. Howie's mom works a lot and he only sees his dad "a few days every couple of months". "Pop" being a merchant marine sailing in the North Atlantic could be in danger because other ships in that area have been torpedoed by Germans. This worries Howie "a lot" he mentions. These feelings probable consume Howie most of the time except when he is at school. There he can focus on his favorite teacher Miss Gossim. Howie says in fact " the only thing worth going to school for was this Miss Gossim." According to Howie she's "a dilly, a dish, an angel-cake, full of smiles too." If Miss Gossim gets fired Howie would be devastated because his "life raft, his parachute, his own private rescue squad" would be gone.
